Alphabet game for preschoolers
There is a fun game which we always love to play – finding words corresponding to a letter. If I say “a” Skandhu must find all the words (that he knows) which makes the sound “aa”. This game did help him to improve his vocabulary.
We started teaching phonics to Skandhu as early as in 18 months. By 21 months he could recite the alphabets. Now at 34 months, Skandhu knows the alphabets (captial and small letters) and their sounds. I found an alphabet game – “airplanes to zebras” at walmart. It read that it was suited for 4-6 yrs old. I knew it was too early for our 34 months old. But thought of giving a try and bought it. Just as I guessed, our LO solved the game in no time!
Note: This is not a product review. I am not getting paid to write about this game. We bought it for our preschooler and he loved it. Am sharing it here assuming that my post would help parents who are on the lookout for educational toys for their kids.
Game rule: The puzzle had the alphabets and the corresponding pictures. Kids should match them. This is how we played – I would give a picture and Skandhu should tell me
- What it is.
- It starts with which letter.
- Find the corresponding letter.
- Then match them together.
Aim: To recognise the sounds, letters and match the pictures with alphabets accordingly.
We have played this game gazillion times and now Skandhu is almost bored with it. Have to hunt for more games… lol!
