Aanand’s activities at seven months!
Aanand is going to be 7.5 months old in a couple of days. Everyday he surprises us with a new achievement (milestone). Skandhu stood up when he was about to turn 7 months old. What’s next? Now pappu uses just one hand for balancing!!.
Last week you would have seen him standing besides the sliding door (near the deck), oven and the chairs holding them with both his hands. Here are Skandhu’s latest pics. Now he uses single hand to balance himself. He is also trying to stand without support!! Hope he will achieve it very soon.
Look at this stylish pose! Holding the sliding door with one hand and the other one near his hips!!
One thing that I must definitely brag is that Skandhu never cries for our help! He tries and tries and wins over! I have heard that most of the babies would roll from back to tummy and wouldn’t know how to come back. They would scream and cry and the mommies have to put them back to their original position. Some babies would stand but wouldn’t know how to sit. They would again scream for mommy’s help. Am glad I NEVER went thru all these!
Skandhu rolled from back to tummy when he was 3 months old. He would try and try to roll back but never cried/screamed. Even when he stood up he never cried for our help to make him sit. He would try to sit and he won that!! First few days Skandhu sat with a big THUD!! Poor guy would whine for few sec and then would again stand up!! Huh… Cant this boy take some rest?? Rest? Are you kidding? He was standing holding the sofa for about 20 mins cause he didn’t know to sit!!
Now don’t imagine us to be heartless monsters. We are just following baby’s cues. When the baby is ready to face a challenge its the duty of the parent to let him do that, keeping him under the vigilance of our protective eyes. During the initial days Skandhu used sit on his bum with a big thump, these days he has mastered the art of sitting carefully. Skandhu leans his hands down, slowly descends and sits gently!!
May 16: (7 months 2 days old) Skandhu stood without support for almost 3 sec. These days he is trying to stand without support
Skandhu promptly does things that we ask him not to do! He would want to chew (!!) power cords, remove the vent and look inside it, play near the fire place and try out all the things that are in NOT TO DO list.
Its getting hard for me to run behind him. We have pretty much baby proofed our home. Still our boy would discover some thing new each day and amuse us with his antics!
Amma (Raising voice): Skandhu come here!
Skandhu: Goes near the fire place, stops crawling. Looks at Amma.
Amma: What are you doing?? You are not supposed to go there. Come near me!
Skandhu: Aaa… Giggles!! Goes closer to the fire place.
Amma (Shouting): Skandhu! You should not go there! Listen to me. Come here!
Skandhu: Heeee…. wide smile. Quickly stands up holding the fire place, turns to Amma and smiles…!!!
As they say a picture is worth thousand words. The snaps below explain the scene I have described above
Just like growth spurts, babies also have learning spurts. For a baby learning is nothing but playing. Every art (milestone) that they master is what they learn! I have been reading to Skandhu ever since he was born. When he become supported sitter, I made him sit on my lap and read to him. Skandhu would listen to me and look at the books with lots of concentration. He would look at what am pointing to. These days I make him sit beside me and read to him. Sometimes he opens a book and looks at the pics all by himself!! Its amazing to see him reading at this early age.
Skandhu started saying Ummmmaaaaa as early as in 4 months. Now he very clearly says Ammmmaaaaa. He has also started to say Abbaaaaa. He makes lot of new sounds. We throw questions at him and he answers with sounds – Am, AA, Baa, Buuu Cant wait to talk with him!!
