Our 8 months old loves Minestrone soup!!
Ammmmmma mumm mumm, Bapa bapa bapa, Aja Aji is what we hear these days Yes!! Skandhu has started to speak!! Every day he adds a new sound/word. He first started with Amma and then Abbbaa and now graduated to more complex words like Ba-pa, Aa-ja, A-ji and mumm -mumm (food). Its so cute to hear him say amma mum mum!! What more do I want? It feels ecstatic to hear “Amma” from this little fellow Daddy jumped with joy when Skandhu called him Bapa Little blessings!!
We keep talking to Skandhu and he answers back (in his own language). Pappu does lip reading. Everytime I teach him words or sing rhymes he keeps looking at my lips and imitates me Hope he is trying to figure out the language. Its actually a very good sign. Doctors say that we should look into the baby’s eyes while we speak. We should try to give our full attention to the baby while we talk. Babies learn from us. The more we talk with them the more they grasp!
Skandhu had his Anna prasanam on Saturday, 5th of June 2010. I made sakkarai pongal at home for neivedhyam. We went to Aurora Balaji temple and offered our prayers. We performed archana and anna prasan. Pappu is all ready for the “Adult food”. We have started giving yoghurt and Skandhu loves it! Now we feed him everything that we eat
Bapa and beta were having their dinner. While bapa was enjoying his minestrone soup, I was feeding dal (mashed with a pinch of salt) to beta. Mommy’s mind was so filled with joy that she is gonna feed one full serving of protein rich food to her son. But wait! What did she see???
I had hardly given 2 scoops of dal that Skandhu started making faces! Whoaaaa…. he acted as though he is gonna puke. OMG! I was taken aback. I consoled myself that maybe he is not yet ready for dals and went to get his bowl of cereal. Now this fellow goes to his dad and asks for soup! Dad feeds him and son drinks it! Smacks his lips makes the chup chup relishing sound and opens his mouth for the next spoon! He happily drank 4-5 spoons of soup!! Huh! Our little brat has a “long tongue” (Word courtesy: Skandhu’s mommy). He wants all spicy tasty food at this age!! NO more plain dal rice, am getting geared up to feed sambar, rasam and pitla to our dear son
Skandha stands without support for 2-3 minutes! He loves to walk! We hold his hands and practise walking. He also has his walker and enjoys walking
Bapa calls beta as “Kitchen raider” Apt word though! Skandhu loves to play with oven, dishwasher, pots and pans. He very much helps mommy by not allowing her to cook
Of all places on earth, our dear LO loves restrooms I do tag him there but Skandhu doesnt let me “rest in peace”! Previously I used to strap him to his infant chair. One fine day our little monkey pulled the strap off! Now he doesnt sit in his infant seater and keeps playing in the restroom. Dont know what attracts him the most - bright coloured mats on the white tile or the jacuzzi bathtub where he takes bath, the big pot(!) or his smelly diaper pail
Skandhu climbs stairs!! Dont panic! We do have gates which keeps him off the stairs. He explores under our observance.
Skandhu wants to drink water from the tumbler that we use. We do give him sippy cup for water and he is doing amazingly well
Skandhu puts his toys under the sofa and tries to take them. This is is one of his favourite plays!
We went to a baby gym. It had lots of toys for the kids to play. Skandhu enjoyed crawling through a caterpillar shaped tunnel. It was a big tunnel and pappu loved going through it. After 2/3 rounds of crawling through the tunnel, he got so used to it that he refused to come out of the tunnel and started playing there. I was calling him from the end point, cajoled him come out. Other kids were waiting in queue to play there. Finally I showed him my iphone, our little techie came running to get it from me!! Huh!!! Everyone there had good laugh
