Summer fun with 8 months old!
Skandhu had his 8 month doctor visit and we are happy that he is doing great!!! Doctor was more than satisfied to see our boy crawl, stand, sit and hold toys with pincer grip! Yes! Skandhu showed all his activities and his doctor commented that our little guy is growing up very fast
There was a sale on the used books in our library and we bought lots of books! As usual our little hero did attract all the ladies there! An elderly lady asked us if she could hold Skandhu for a while and play with him We were happy to see our boy socialize very well.
Skandhu has 2 teeth now! He is been teething for more than a month. Teething leaves him cranky for most of the time! Poor LO !! Guess it hurts while the teeth sprouts out… Pappu wants to bite everything he sees. Uh… my N97 is now his teething toy I removed the sim and let him play with it!! Shhhhh… mommy got a new upgraded 3G phone
Pappu drools a lot! He comes near us, rubs his face on our lap/shoulders/hands and in the least expected moment, bites us! Ooouch… daddy has already had his quota, mommy is cleverly escaping till now
While daddy engages Skandhu with his boisterous plays, mommy has simple yet challenging games to keep Skandhu busy. Pappu gets involved in anything and everything that we do. “Me too” attitude is slowly kicking in! So I keep him occupied in everything that I do. I was dusting the staircase rails and I kept the dusting cloth near it. Skandhu wanted to take it and of course taste the cloth We played a simple game. I kept the cloth near the 3rd step and encouraged him to pull it. Our little boy did pull the cloth. He was in all smiles to take the cloth from the stairs. I slowly increased the height and every time Skandhu stretched himself and pulled the cloth. A nice time pass game with lots of physical activity and concentration
Skandhu is steadily marching to towards his toddler days. 3 more months to go for his big day, yet I feel my little bundle has already become a busy toddler Skandhu tries to pull things from the dinning table and computer desk. We are not able to keep books/bills/mail in the computer desk. He just pulls them off and starts biting them like a rat!
Where is my little baby who practised sitting in his infant chair? Ah… I never thought our brat would sit like this while I got this chair some 2 months back
What are car seats for? Our little one loves to climb on it and do the research of pulling the straps out!
Our little hero raiding the kitchen cabinets! Pots and pans are his toys now
Its summer here (finally) and we have started to go outdoors and enjoy with our LO. I’ll be posting all the summer activities that we do
Fun in the sun 1: We take Skandhu to play area. Most of the play areas are for the toddlers and older kids. Thankfully some have baby friendly equipments too. Swings are fascinating to everyone. Babies love gentle rocking motion! Skandhu enjoyed playing in the swing. He enjoyed sitting in the wooden horse too. He loved seeing other kids playing near him
Fun in the sun 2: We went to Chicago Botanical Gardens. Skandhu enjoyed seeing the flowers and trees. We kept on talking with him and explaining him what he was seeing there. Skandhu loved to watch the swans swim in the lake.
We also saw the model rail road garden. It was so much fun to see miniature trains running on their tracks making the choo choo sound! Skandhu really enjoyed there. He kept watching the trains. Every time he heard the siren of the engine, he would turn his head and watch the train pass through him. We had a lovely time and nice fun

Mommy’s tips: If you wish to go out with your LO, make sure
- The baby takes enough rest. Cranky baby may not leave you to enjoy outdoors!
- Avoid outing at extremely hot hours of the day. Be indoors at that time.
- Do not skip the diaper change and feeding times. Tired baby is always hyperactive!
- Dress to the weather. Cotton dresses would be greatly useful!

We have a family photo of ours in the living room. Every day I point the picture and tell whos there in the snap. Amma, Bapa and Skandhu kutty! The other day we were reading a book regarding animals and their babies. We read about horse and foal, pig and piglets, duck and ducklings and then cows and calf. There were two cows and a calf in the picture. So instead of just saying cow and its baby, I said Amma cow, Bapa cow and baby cow. The moment I finished saying, Skandhu turned his head and looked at our family picture! I was astonished to see how well Skandhu related our picture with what we were reading! Babies learn a lot and I feel we can smart wire their little brain by talking to them and letting them explore the world around them
