Number matching games

Here are two simple number matching games that we enjoy playing at home.

Activity 1: Write numbers 1-20 (depending on your kids age) in two set of papers. I have used bottle caps and card stock papers. Ask your child to

  1. match the numbers from either set and
  2. arrange it in order. (This is optional for young kids)
  3. Ask them read out the numbers as they match them

Aim: Number recognition and number order

Activity 2: This is the age old memory game. Cut paper into 12/16 small cards of same size. Keep the matrix as simple as possible – 4X4 (16 cards) or 3X4 (12 cards). More cards may confuse young kids.

Aim: Number recognition and improving memory

Two kids can play this game or you can join with your child. My 3 years 1 month old gets frustrated if I start scoring more than him :P He is still too young to play this game without cheating though :)
