Preschool name game
This is a simple game that you can play with your preschooler. You can start this name as early as in late twos, provided your 2 year old knows the alphabets. By Kindergarten most schools expect a child to know (& spell) his first and last names.
Activity: Jumble the letters in your child’s name and ask him to arrange them in order.
Some more additions to this game:
- Ask your child read out each letter. (alphabet recognition)
- Count total number of letters in his name (counting & math)
- Count the number of times each letter appears in his name. (sorting & counting)
- Which letter appears the least and which appears more. (concept of more & less)
Here is a video clipping of our LO writing his name. Definitely a long way to master penmanship, but as a mom of a 3 years and 3 months old am super proud!! [Video recorded on 12th Feb 2013.]
